Fotoflair Wedding and Portrait Photographers bio picture
  • Fotoflair…Sunshine Coast Wedding and Portrait Photographer

Hi there, and welcome to our photography website. I'm Darren and I am the guy that takes all the photos at fotoflair. My business partner and darling wife of 15 glorious years, Danette pretty much takes care of everything else.
We are a small specialised family owned wedding and portrait photography business based on the gorgeous Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
Photographs are wonderful reminders of our past, capturing history in a fraction of a second, and I love nothing more than be able to help you capture some of life's most precious moments to be relived in years to come.
I am blessed with a beautiful family and am able to work at something that I am truly passionate about. I love everything about life, and I love capturing life's little moments, so take a look around the site and if you like what you see let's get together and have a chat sometime soon.

Memoirs of a War Veteran

Anzac Day 2012…..one of those days that will stick in my mind for a long time for all the right reasons.

It is important for us to remember the countless sacrifices made and young lives lost during the second world war to protect our freedom.

This Anzac Day I had the opportunity and pleasure to spend some valuable time with Jimmy Rooney, a WWII veteran and living treasure.

I met Jimmy the previous evening and was instantly drawn to his gentlemanly charm as we sat and talked about Jimmy and his experiences of life and the war. I won’t say too much more, other than if you have a spare 20 minutes I would encourage you to stop what you are doing and play this slideshow and listen to Jimmy recount some of those moments.

An Afternoon at the Beach

The morning started with heavy clouds and some local rain and I wondered if we would be doing this session at all, but as unpredictable as the weather can be it fined up to a gorgeous day on the beach and mother nature chimed in with some beautiful golden afternoon light and some brilliant clouds sitting out over the ocean.

I like to incorporate the environment in my family portraits as much as possible as I feel that helps convey the story and we are so blessed on the Sunshine Coast with some of the best beaches in the world.

Megan and Matt and their beautiful children graced my viewfinder for the afternoon and were so easy to work with. I honestly don’t think it is possible to take a bad photo of these guys, they look like they have come straight out of a magazine shoot and it was an absolute pleasure to be able to share that time with you.

Our session was cut just a little short when poor Megan was stung by a bluebottle while wading in ankle deep water…Ouch – I have been stung myself on a number of occasions and Megan I felt your pain. Anyway as they say no pain no gain, and as long as you could have a little laugh at the end of the day, all was well and I hope your beautiful images make up for some of that discomfort.

Big Boys…Big Toys

No truer title can be given in this instance. On Sunday I headed out the back of Coolum with my boy Shelby to the airshow put on by the Suncoast Model Flyers club. Now of course I only went because I thought Shelby might like to take a look at the cute model planes flying around the paddock, wink wink.

Wowsers, what an awesome collection of “toys”, and could those boys fly ‘em. The scale models were terrific and so much detail, and I was super impressed with the jet planes…I love the smell of aviation fuel in the morning.

What’s that Shelby, you want a rc plane for xmas, OK son, only because you asked so nicely, I’ll have a quiet word with the big man in the red suit.

It was a great day out and I thoroughly recommend it if any of the Dad’s out there are looking for some quality father, son time.
